100 years have come and gone since Mr. T.D. Keenan of Sebring first dreamed about a special place to hunt and fish. On one of his many outings he discovered that special place and our little paradise in the valley was born! the Sebring Fish and Game Association, as we were known then, was located 5 miles southwest of Salem.
In 1921, 59 acres were purchased from Mr. Ode Scott at $100 per acre. The second tract of 9 acres was added the same year. The old farm house was owned by the club until it was sold to a member, J.Y. Gamble in 1934.
The Association was incorporated on October 10, 1921 and filed October 28, 1921 by Sylvester Heideger, our 1st President; Clair Smith; W.S. Crewson; A.H. Lindsay; T.D. Keenan; and G.Y. Windle. These men were also part of the first Board of Directors. The membership fee this year was $50.00.
In the summer of 1922 the dam was built and the first cottage was constructed. Then in 1923, the spot originally used as a tent site, became the location for the club house.
Things have changed over the last 100 years, but the feelings of friendship and family is still the same!
